The CEPP seeks to respond to the needs of families who wish to access a childcare service in French for their child.
Given that childcare spaces are limited and that the francophone population is growing, the CEPP maintains a registration intention list and registration priority for its services. The persons responsible for registrations will be informed of this policy to make transparent and equitable decisions in accordance with the CEPP’s vision and mission.
The admission criteria are established in order of priority.
Intention List
- Admittance priority is given to the child with at least one French-speaking parent.
- Exceptionally, the CEPP will admit children with no French-speaking parents. The FPFA’s registrations commissioner will submit the exemption request form to the CSCN for its authorisation. Once the CSCN’s decision has been received, the commissioner will inform the parents of the refusal or admittance of the child to the CEPP.
- The lease contract between CEPP and CSCN obligates the CEPP, which occupies spaces inside the francophone school, to adhere to their admittance policy I9030PA.
Priority List
- The child belongs in the age group for the available placement ;
- The child’s parent is employed by the centre ;
- The child has a brother or sister already registered to the same daycare ;
- The child already attends another service from the same organization (CEPP) ;
- The parent is an FPFA employee ;
- The child’s parent works at the school where the daycare is located ;
- The child attends a daycare partnered with the FPFA’s Horizon department ;
- The date of registration to the intention list ;
- The availability of the child coincides with the expected start date (except if the parent accepts to pay for the waiting period).
*ATTENTION : Please note that a child only has access to their priority once. Once it has been used, if the child is withdrawn and placed back on the list, they will no longer have priority. Ex: You are a teacher and have received a place in the center at the start of the year. The summer period arrives and you would like to withdraw your child and put them on the list for next September. It is possible to do so but your place for September will not be guaranteed and your child will be on the regular list (without priority).
Registration Process
- When a spot opens, the registrations commissioner will communicate with the family in priority by email.
- The family has 5 days to respond. During this delay, two attempts to call will be made.
- If there is no response within this time, the spot is offered to the next family.
- To confirm registration, the parent must:
- a) confirm acceptance within the 5 day delay;
- b) pay the deposit and file opening fees, as well as completing and submitting the documents required in the 2 days following acceptance.
- The spot is officially confirmed only after receiving payment and the completed and compliant forms.
- The file must be finalized at least one week before the child’s date of entry, without which the entry could be delayed.
Class Transfer (if applicable)
Transfers are managed by the commissioner and the centre manager, and communicated to families by the latter.
- The children in the centre have priority for a transfer to the following group when a spot becomes available.
- Transfers are done according to age seniority.
- If two children have the same birthday, the one who has been in the center longer will be prioritized.
Some elements may delay a transfer, even if the child meets the age requirement:
- The child still wears diapers and the new classroom is not adapted for this;
- The child’s development suggests that they are not ready for this group;
- Any other reason judged relevant, after discussion with the parents.
